Working with percentages
"Per cent" means "out of 100", so a percentage is just a fraction with a denominator of 100.
How do I find a percent of a number?
Turn the percent into a decimal by dividing by 100, then multiply by the number. For example, 25% of 80 = 0.25 × 80 = 20.
How do I work out percentage change?
Subtract the original from the new value, divide by the original, then multiply by 100. A positive result is an increase; a negative one is a decrease.
