A fraction has a numerator (top) over a denominator (bottom).
How do I add or subtract fractions?
Give them the same (common) denominator, then add or subtract the numerators and keep the denominator. Simplify the result if you can.
How do I multiply and divide fractions?
To multiply, multiply the numerators and the denominators straight across. To divide, flip the second fraction and multiply.
